War follows you through the galaxy, no matter how you may resolve to abstain from it.

In the thirty years since you put down your saber and hung your robes, countless numbers have come to your doorstep, trying to convince you of their importance, or your importance to them. "General, will you ignite your weapon once more, and this time, for a better cause than ever before?" You would spit at the title, and send them on their way. No one with your power had any business in war, putting the lives of others at risk.

But every few years, when the conflict reignites, and fiery debris pierces the atmosphere as would a meteorite, you're forced to dip into your food stores, because some restless soldier got trigger happy, attacked a supply caravan. Surely, you could have prevented that? Any of the other atrocities committed by free people when they are brought together by anger? That's the old life talking, the one that intervened, coerced, and manipulated for the sake of peace. One side afraid of taking any enjoyment of the world. The other held captive by rage. Better to stay unaligned, as long as possible.

But then when you feel the darkness, hours before the ships darken the sky, you know you will then, at least, choose to survive.

Not much variation, but that isn't necessary for mood/ambient music. The 14 short and 1 long track basically sound like one piece. The atmosphere is convincing: melancholic and cavernous. The sound is strong: murky and mossy it enhances the experience. This is truly "dungeon synth". It's "old school", but it does not remind of Mortiis so it seems original and authentic. Sounds from a sad soul, for sad souls. phil___
